Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Don and Bob and granddaughter, Amber Carlson.
He is survived by wife, Laurie; son Steven (Karen), daughter Wendy Hastings; step-children, Wendi Carlson, Peter (Chris), Dan (Kathy), Steven (Julie), Tim (Cynthia), and 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; sister Lola Frieler (Orville), nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
Jim served his country in World War II and the Korean War.
He loved music and sang in choirs from age 10 through most of his life. The height of his singing was being part of the Minneapolis Apollo Male Chorus for 18 years.
Jim enjoyed life and loved being around family and friends. He will greatly missed by everyone.
Memorial services were at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago on Feb. 24. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
