I hope you had a chance to take in some of the festivities of this year's Center City Days. The event was somewhat "dampened" by heavy rains at times, but that didn't stop people from having a good time. Thank you to all who volunteered their time to make this year's Center City Days a success.

I have been telling those of you who have yet to subscribe, that your papers will soon stop being delivered, and this is the week. The Chisago County Press has given those of you who have not renewed their subscriptions papers for weeks, and unfortunately we can no longer continue to do that. So if you would like to renew, or if you would like a year's subscription to the Chisago County Press, please send a $47 check to: Chisago County Press, P.O. Box 748, Lindstrom, MN. 55045. You can also call us at 651-257-5115 if you wish to pay by credit card. We will get you into our system and you will not miss an issue of what we feel is the best small town newspaper in the state.

As you can see by the ads in our paper, Karl Oskar Days is next week. Along with Karl Oskar Days comes the annual Snuff Box Hunt. Don't miss your chance to take home $500 this year. Clues will start next week and be posted until the little silver box is found. Here is a very important thing to remember. The box can only be hidden on public land in the City of Lindstrom and you can only win the prize if you have a 2009 Karl Oskar Days button. Need another reason to buy a button?  How about the chance to win $250? There will be a button number drawing at the conclusion of Karl Oskar Days, so look for the numbers in the July 16 Press. Make sure you purchase your button before they are gone, and good luck.

Another Karl Oskar Days reminder. Next Wednesday, the featured musical guest to play at the Harmony in the Park series will be Monroe Crossing. Monroe Crossing is a very popular bluegrass band with a huge following, so get there early and be prepared to have a good time.

We have a new winner of Saints tickets. Muriel Debilzan of Center City is our lucky winner. Muriel and three friends will receive four tickets to next Friday's Saints game in Saint Paul. The last winners, Travis and Sandi Williams told us that they had a great time at their Saints game. So those of you who were thinking about sending your entry form in, I would urge you to do so soon, you might just win.

The Chisago County Press has been making some big changes lately. We have re-done our landscaping around Karl and Kristina, and now we are getting ready to paint the old Press building. The Press has been white as long as I can remember, and we feel it is time for a change. Hopefully you will approve of our new changes, we think you will.

Along with changes on the outside, we have been making some changes to the inside of the Press building. In our entry, you will now find the desk where Vilhelm Moberg once sat and worked on his many writings which include the famous Emigrants book. For past decades, we have been using this historic desk as our sales desk and we now understand how important this desk is to fans of Moberg, so we have it displayed for the public to view and photograph. And those of you who think " A desk? Are you serious?," consider that we get probably a hundred or more people a year that want to see, sit at, and photograph the desk.
