"Swingin' for Parmly"

On June 18, Parmly LifePointes held its 14th annual "Swingin' for Parmly" Benefit Golf Tournament at the Chisago Lakes Golf Course. There were 20 teams in two divisions out for the scramble challenge, fun, and excitement. Lynn Hanson of IDT, the tournament's Title Sponsor, made an astounding 54' putt in the longest putt challenge in the Men's Division. Kris Silbernagel of the Jen Bettencourt team made a 9' putt for the women and Jon Pauley of the Don Pauley team made a 36' putt for the men in the Mixed Division. Longest drives were landed by Dave Doren (Men's Division), Barb Rode (Mary Cordts team - Mixed Division), and Rick Carlson (Plastic Products Mixed Division). Peter Overgaard's team took first place unchallenged in the Mixed Division. The Men's Division was something else with the winner declared by a scorecard playoff. Gordon Meland's team edged out Dale Fredell's team for first place by sinking a birdie on the third hardest handicapped hole.

Proceeds from the tournament will purchase equipment and furnishings to expand the Vital Aging Program. The Vital Aging program is part of Parmly's Vitalize! Wellness Centre holistic initiative that provides active aging opportunities to area adults over 50.
