LINDSTROM, MN ---With a time of 16:06, John Leaf, 22, Center City, on Saturday morning, July 11, won the 21st annual Lindstrom Loppet, Karl Oskar 5K hosted by Fairview Lakes Health Services. Second place male was Michael Howe, 17, Forest Lake, followed by Andrew Carlson, 19, White Bear Lake.

For the fourth time, and the third consecutive year, Laura Edlund, 23, Forest Lake, was the first female to cross the line. She posted a time of 18:16, 12 seconds ahead of last year, followed by Clare Kazmierczak, 32, of Moorhead with 18:57 and Chelsea Johnson, 17, of North Branch, at 19:25.

Of the approximately 650 people who registered to enter the race, 558 runners and walkers of all ages crossed the finish line in this year's event, which was blessed by warm sunshine and cool breezes. Proceeds of the Loppet support the Virginia Elizabeth Ferguson Nursing Scholarship, discount bike helmets and other youth health-related programs in the community.

"Sincere thanks go to the many community businesses that each year provide financial assistance, refreshments and other services to help make the race possible," said co-chairmen Carla Norelius and Leanne Roggemann of Fairview Lakes Health Services.
