Chisago Lakes Middle School sixth graders ended Mr. Tengwall's science class with a unit on water rockets. The students constructed rockets out of plastic bottles, paper or cardboard fins and a weighted end. After placing a small amount of water inside, the classes ventured outside to launch the rockets. Students took turns at the launch site (left), and then pulled a cord that sent compressed air into their rockets and the water out, as the rockets took flight (above). Students were graded on stability of the rockets and how far they flew. The top rockets from each class then competed in a rocket championship on the last day of school, June 4.
