Please come to Center City Days this weekend, Praise Fest on Saturday
This weekend, Center City will play host to its own celebration, Center City Days. In this edition of the Press and last week in the Search, we had a beautiful two page color spread detailing all of the events taking place at this year's Center City Days. Surrounding the schedule of events, you will find ads from wonderful businesses that have chosen to support the 2009 Center City Days.
Center City Days runs from Friday until Sunday and will feature lots of fun entertainment as well as great food for everyone. On Friday, be sure to grab your kids and head to the annual kiddie parade that starts at 5 p.m. There will be a community picnic at 6 p.m. at Watertower Park. From there you can drift down to the Fire Hall and play bingo with all of your friends.
Saturday, Center City Days really gets rolling. As always, there will be a great kids' carnival that features games and prizes for everyone that plays. There will be a craft sale, a cribbage tournament, canoe races, a Lutefisk hunt, and a motorcycle ride for Cystic Fibrosis. The night is capped off with a street dance which will feature The Radiators.
On Sunday, part two of the Lutefisk hunt continues, a classic car show will start at noon and there will be a pie baking contest will be judged at 1 p.m.
As you can see, there is not a shortage of fun things to take in. So please show the great folks of Center City your support and come out have some really good times.
If you are one of the few who have yet to send in your subscription, sadly this will be the last County Press you will receive. On Thursday we will be stopping all subscriptions that have not been renewed. If you would like to continue your subscription, or if you would like a subscription to the County Press, simply send in your payment of $47 (for Chisago County residents) to: Chisago County Press, PO Box 748, Lindstrom, MN 55045. We will immediately get you into our system and you will not miss a beat.
There is a new business in town. Big deal you say? Well in these times of economic disparity, news of a new business is a big deal.
Sheri Wolf has recently opened "Grama's Barn" in the barn next to Eichten's Market and Cafe, between Center City and Shafer.
Sheri has renovated the barn beautifully and has filled it with two floors of unique gifts for your home and garden.
This Saturday, Grama's Barn would like to invite the public to its grand opening. If you are one of the first 100 visitors, you will receive a free gift. Look for the Grama's Barn ad in this edition of the Press for a valuable coupon.
There is another really cool event taking place this Saturday. The First United Methodist Church in Lindstrom will be holding its first annual "Praise Fest". What is Praise Fest? It is a partnership of local churches of all denominations to praise God through music. Beginning at noon, Praise Fest will feature multiple bands and Alex Shaleen, who is a champion clogger. There will be a large stage with plenty of room for lawn chairs and blankets.
Praise Fest will offer food and beverages as well as a BBQ pig roast. There's all kinds of things for kids to do including a huge funhouse and games.
Come on out and see some great local talent. Admission is a donation to the local food shelf of a food item or money.
