Our annual subscription renewal campaign will soon conclude. Although subscriptions are due on May 1 of every year, if you have yet to mail in yours, please do so now. After 30 days, our computer automatically drops those who have not paid off the subscriber list, which means you will no longer receive the paper. You can simply mail in your blue card to the Press or call us at 651-257-5115 to pay with credit card. As I have stated many times before, we appreciate each and every person who reads our newspaper, and we vow to keep improving it the best we can.

There is one of the biggest non-religious holidays of the year this weekend. No, not Cinco De Mayo, although those margaritas can be quite tasty. I am talking about Mother's Day. This is the one day we set aside to honor all of the mothers in the world. It's the day we shower them with love, gifts, and breakfast in bed.

To me, Mother's Day gets short shrifted in the holiday grouping. I mean come on, what would we be without our mothers? It is our mothers who have molded us into the people we are today. Yes, fathers are very important in a child's life, but it is the mother who can profoundly impact a child's life, whether it's through teaching life's lessons, or something so small like teaching to respect others at all times.

Being a mother is a monumental, daunting task that we are forever taking for granted. This Mother's Day, lets try to really make an effort to let our mothers know how much they mean to us. Let's also try to let them know how great they are all year long.

I would like to wish all moms, both with us now and those who have passed away, a very happy Mother's Day. God bless you, and thank you for all you have done and continue to do.

We here at the Press are very excited about our newspaper. We have just switched printers and are excited about our new printing possibilities. What does a different printer mean to you the reader? It means that we can now offer a better product like more color in the Press and Search. We will now have access to more printing capabilities such as printing inserts and flyers for our advertisers, printing coupon books (we will be starting soon). We will soon have color on the front and back of the second section, which will allow more color advertising space, as well as color photos. We are really excited about the unlimited possibilities our new printer can offer, and we hope you will enjoy the changes in the near future.

I recieved a really neat phone call on Monday. One of our loyal subscribers, Marilyn Mays, called from her home just outside of Atlanta. Expecting to hear a complaint about paper delivery, I was surprised when Marilyn told me she just wanted to pass along a compliment. Marilyn said that she absolutely loves reading the County Press and looks forward to Fridays when her paper gets there. In this day and age, it seems that the only time you hear from someone is when you do something wrong. It was so refreshing to take a call and have someone praise your business. Thank you Marilyn, you made my day....no you made my week. Call anytime.
