Chisago Lakes Middle School students with an interest in law enforcement, came to the school's final Breakfast Club of the year recently, with St. Paul Police Officer Dave. The students were told what police departments look for in applicants. Officer Dave talked to the students about how a background check of applicants goes back to the childhood and can include interviews of neighbors, teachers, and school mates. He emphasized that what a person does throughout his or her life can impact their ability to get the job he or she wants. Women are wanted on police forces because they have different skills than men so girls are encouraged to consider a job in law enforcement. Officer Dave also showed the students some of the equipment that is issued to police officers.
