Pine City Scramble
The scramble is a unique event where each team has two three-player team that represent them.
The 13-team meet had a few big schools in it, but North Branch wasn't intimidated and finished a respectable third place.
Their top trio of seniors Laurel Dresel, Katie Foley and Emily Juve scored an 80 with a front nine score of 39 and a back nine score of 41.
The sophomore trio of Cassedy Coleman, Lauren Ibinger and Jamie Wettschreck stayed consistent throughout the course, scoring 44s on both the front nine and back nine for an 88.
The teams combined score of 168 just narrowly bested Milaca, which shot a 170.
Host Pine City won the event with a 162 and Rush City was just behind them with a 163. Cambridge-Isanti rounded out the top five with a 175.
North Branch Invitational
The Vikings were fortunatue enough to host the initial North Suburban Conference meet on the schedule this year.
Last week, North Branch and the eight other NSC teams teed off in some beautiful 70 degree weather at the North Branch Golf Course for a round of nine.
"The course is in unbelievable shape for this time of the year, and the girls played very weel -- especially for the first time out," Head Coach Dave Ambers said.
The Irondale Knights completely dominated the meet, winning by an amazing 32 strokes, but it was a heated competition for the second through sixth place spots.
St. Francis carded a 207, and so did St. Louis Park.
North Branch was just one stroke behind them with a 208, and Totino-Grace and Benilde-St. Margaret's rounded out the top six with a 212 and 213, respectively.
The meet medalist was Lindsey Brown of Irondale, and her teammate, Michelle Kleckner, came in second place with a 41.
North Branch senior Katie Foley finished in third place with an impressive 44. Cassedy Coleman carded a 50 for North Branch, and Lauren Ibinger came in with a 55. Laurel Dresel rounded out the varsity score with a 59.
Alyssa Ramberg and Jamie Wettschreck shot a 60 and a 65, respectively.
"The girls really played well," Ambers noted. "Katie just missed a hole-in-one on two, Cassedy had one of her best rounds and, with the exception of a few big holes, Lauren has a nice looking scorecard."
