North Branch 36 Mora 28

Ranked sixth in Class AA at 215, Justin Bergerson pinned Mora's seventh-ranked Tyler Carlson to give the Vikings an insurmountable lead. The Vikings went on to beat Mora, last year's section runner-up, 36-28 Tuesday, December 21 at North Branch High School.

The Vikings blew open a tight match by winning at three of the final four weights. With the Vikings trailing 22-21 after the 160-pound match, Andy Freel (171) pinned his opponent late in the first period to give the Vikings a 27-22 lead. Stuart Frink's win by decision at 189 put the Vikings up 30-22 before Bergerson's pin sealed the win.

"Mora is another good team on our schedule," said Viking head coach Tony Aho. "We knew that our team needed to limit the number of pins we gave up, and we also had to find a way to win some of the close matches. For the third dual in a row, the guys did exactly that. Mike Vogel did another outstanding job of keeping his match close and saving precious team points, as did Zack Sundly. Jake Pilz lost a narrow decision to one their better wrestlers but is improving with every match. Reid Johnson found a way to pin a tough kid and Patrick Mork defeated a solid Mora wrestler. Stuart Frink is really looking tough right now as he earned a solid win at 189 pounds. The match of the night, however, was Justin Bergerson's pin at 215. Justin and the Mora wrestler, Tyler Carlson, split two matches last year and both are ranked in the top ten in the state. Justin came out aggressively and sealed the win for his team."
