If you are looking for a nice night of entertainment for your family, how about a play? The Chisago Lakes Middle School is putting on their version of "Morning Star Memoirs". If you have never heard of Morning Star Memoirs before, that's because locals Sally Lundholm and Sara Sonnabend wrote the play this past year.
The play is about a writer who reflects upon a summer she attended summer camp. She relives memories and photos from that magical summer.
Showtimes for the play are today at 7 p.m., Friday at noon and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. All shows are at the Performing Arts Center at the Chisago Lakes High School. Come on out and see some very talented local youths.
Last Wednesday, I had the privilege of going on my son's field trip to Wild Mountain. Having never skied before, to say my son was nervous would be a gross understatement. Nonetheless, he was excited to ski with all of his buddies.
I was so impressed with Wild Mountain and the professionalism they used in handling all of the excited fourth graders. It was so structured from the moment they got off the bus. All students had to take lessons that consisted of six learning stations. Once completed, the kids were allowed to ski anywhere but the really hard hills.
I had visions of my son completing his lessons and then not seeing him until it was time to leave. He really threw me for a loop when he said that he wanted to ski with me all day. Yes, there were many times where his buddies would talk him into taking a trip down the slopes without me, but we always seemed to end up together. I had one of the best days that I have ever had with my son that day. Just spending time with him on the chair lift was very special to me.
Thanks to Lakeside Elementary and Wild Mountain for such a day that we both will remember for a long time.
I trust that you had a wonderful Valentine's Day and treated your special someone to something nice. At our house, we decided to celebrate on Saturday by going to a local restaurant for dinner. Only my son and I have been to this Chisago City restaurant before, so the girls were a little nervous. By the time the check came, everyone had devoured their food and were enjoying a milkshake.
Looking around the place, I was a little nervous for the owner because there were only a few other people in the restaurant. But when we left the place was full. Apparently word is spreading that we have some amazing restaurants in our area.
