The LS Power development agreement received the lion's share of attention at last week's County Board meeting; but the county commissioners also acted unanimously on another development agreement, this one with Center City officials.

The County Seat Business Park is the county's attempt to make lemonade out of the lemon that is the shelved new jail project. Chisago County purchased land identified as a future site for a new county jail and now the county is preparing to market the highway fronting lots for commercial uses.

The northwest corner of County Road 82 and Hwy. 8 has been cleared of nuisance brush, and stormwater systems are installed, sanitary sewer and municipal water has been extended from downtown Center City. What the county commissioners agreed to last week includes terms of the actual plat (mapping of the lots) for the business park, and it details county expenses for improvements. Center City wants the site basically done-- with curb, gutter, street signs-- by mid-August 2010.
