Two U16 Girls' teams traveled to Wisconsin to participate in Hudson's Border Battle. While the C3 team finished the tourney as runner-up losing to New London (WI) 0-1, the C2 squad managed to take home the first place trophy unbeaten with four impressive shootouts. In the championship game the girls coached by Dennis Gall and Julie Ryan beat White Bear Lake 1-0.
Thanks to the support of the Saint Croix Falls Walmart Supercenter four other teams were able to participate in the Walmart All American Cup at the National Sports Center in Blaine and also here one of the teams left the soccer complex unbeaten: The U17 Boys' team coached by CLYSA president Steve Jones won its final against Grand Rapids 3-1. The 14 Girls' team under Luke Genheimer almost made it to the championship game and ended up with a positive 1-1-2 record. The U10 Boys' coached by Tom Lawlor showed no respect either and also played a good tournament. For the U9 Girls' team lead by Nicole DeVries the Wal-Mart Cup was a good opportunity to "breathe" some tournament air and the girls will definitely show in their next games what they learned during the weekend.
