The North Branch girls golf team played their mid-season 18 at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids last week, and the course was rough on the Vikes once again.
"We've never scored particularily well at Bunker," Head Coach Dave Ambers said after North Branch's sixth place finish. "I'm not quite sure why. The conditions were good and we're capable of better golf."
Katie Foley was the top golfer for North Branch shooting a 52-49-101 on the course, and Cassedy Coleman and Lauren Ibinger weren't far off of her pace. Coleman shot a 54-53-107 and Ibinger carded a 53-55-108.
At the midway point, North Branch is in sixth place in the North Suburban Conference with 26 points. Irondale has a clear lead at 54 points, while St. Francis, St. Louis Park, Benilde-St. Margaret's and Totino-Grace round out the top five.

Although the Vikings played much better at Theodore Wirth Golf Club in Golden Valley, the Vikings still finished in sixth place in the conference.
"Katie really bounced back from a couple of tough rounds. She consistently put herself in good position off the tee and took advantage to record a season-best 43," Ambers noted of his top golfer. "She's very capable of shooting scores like that."
Besides Foley's 43, Laurel Dresel carded a 51, Alyssa Ramberg had a 52 and Ibinger and Emily Juve both shot 53s to give the Vikings their best round of the year so far with a 199.
The rest of the girls did a nice job, also. I was particularly excited about the way ninth graders Alyssa Ramberg and Mallory Olson played," said Ambers. "Alyssa carded a 52 and, Mallory, in her first varsity appearance, came in with a very respectable 56. She was a bit nervous, but pushed that aside and had a real nice round."
Irondale won the meet with a 172, and then the bunch that was second through seventh place finished out their rounds. BSM finished in second with a 186, followed by St. Louis Park at 187, St. Francis at 191, Totino Grace at 196, the Vikes at 199 and Spring Lake Park at 201.
