Darlene Evelyn (Fryxell) Cross, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home on October 3, 2010. She was under the care of her three children, their spouses and hospice.

She was born in Minneapolis, MN October 20, 1936 to Bernard and Evelyn (Johnson) Fryxell. She attended school in Taylors Falls. She married Ronald Cross on August 11, 1956. She spent 18 years working in the chemical dependency field, retiring as the Executive Director of the Hanley Hazelden Center at St. Mary's in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1991.

She is survived by children; Robin (Daniel) Mielke, Rudolph, WI; Rebecca (Marc) Barnes, Charlotte, NC and Darcy (Heather) Cross, Minneapolis, MN; six grandchildren; Andrea (Ed) Shoerer, Adam Mielke, Amy Mielke, Katlyn Cross, Kassidy Cross, and James Cross; three great-grandchildren; Grant, Patrick and Eden; brothers; and sisters; Clark (Carol) Fryxell, Lois (Gary) Reed, Lowell (Rebecca) Fryxell, Charles (Linda) Fryxell; many nieces and nephews and special friends. Preceeded in death by brother's Dayton and Gene, parents Bernard and Evelyn and husband Ronald. She was a faithful and helping member of AA and the United Methodist Church in Taylors Falls. She enjoyed being a member of community groups and organizations.

A celebration of Darlene's life will be Wednesday, October 6 at Taylors Falls United Methodist Church with Reverend Rolland Robinson officiating. Visitation with Darlene's family at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. Arrangements by St. Croix Valley Funeral Home, and Polk County Cremation Society, St. Croix Falls, WI.
