DNR and Wild River Chapter get archery in the Schools
Students at the Middle School are learning how to shoot a bow correctly and safely thanks to support by the Minnesota DNR and the Wild River Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. These two groups have donated significant amounts of money to purchase equipment so that archery is possible for students during school hours and in after school programs. Corey McKinnon, a Middle School health and physical education teacher, has been involved in getting students to learn archery in his advanced physical education class. Corey has found that archery has been a sport that all kids can excel at, and he has found that this sport increases the confidence of the kids that shoot. Community Education offers after school archery at four different schools in the district and it also sponsors the Chisago Lakes Archery Club which participates in tournaments in the winter. All information about archery in the area can be found at www.chisagolakes.k12.mn.us/communityed
