Levels of the St. Croix River in Chisago County have a ways to go before reaching potential flood stages. The river has had some major crests-- in 2006 and in 2001; but so far the melt and downstream accumulation is shy of historic property damage levels.

The St. Croix guage at Granstburg, Wisc. was about six feet above its zero dataum sea level measurement. It still needs to rise about eight feet to hit historic highs. In 2001 in April the St. Croix near Taylors Falls hit 17 feet and in 2006 it went to 14 feet three inches.

There's also a river level gauge at St. Croix Falls, Wisc about where #87 makes a 'T' with River Street, but officials were not reporting readings at this gauge on the National Weather Service/NOAA website.

In July 2006 the St. Croix near Taylors Falls also registered an historic low water level, at just .86 feet above its zero datum, which is 848.98 feet above sea level.
