Both Hickcox and Tretsven can play wide receiver, which is a need for the Spartans this year, according to head coach Steve King. "We are very excited to have these two join our program," he said. "One of the things we needed to do offensively is add more depth and speed at the receiver position. Jordan is that top end speed receiver we need to compete and could also flip over and see the defensive side of the ball. Brent has the ability to compliment him offensively as a little more of a possession type receiver. They both should see the field immediately and contribute as freshmen."
The 6'1", 190 pound Hickcox received numerous awards during his career. Along with his All State honors, he has been selected to participate in the Minnesota High School All Star Football game to be played at TCF Stadium on June 25th. Chisago Lakes Head Coach Bill Weiss had this to say about Hickcox, "Jordan is a playmaker. His five interceptions -- two returned for touchdowns -- and nine touchdown receptions were often at critical times and often determined the outcome of the game. He also had a nice combination of size and speed."
Hickcox is a two time North Suburban All Conference selection for football and also participated in basketball. Jordan is the son of Greg and Kim Hickcox of Lindstrom.
Tretsven is a 6'1" 180 pound receiver that also received North Suburban All Conference honors. He also reached the 800 pound club in the weight room. "Brent is a great possession receiver and a great blocker who always seemed to be in the right place at the right time," said Weiss. "He was our leading receiver and would make the tough catches across the middle one play and make a key block on the perimeter the next play."
Brent is the son of Terry and Sheryl Tretsven of Lindstrom.
