Chiyoko "Babe" Schmidt, passed away in Lakeland, Florida January 15, 2011 at the age of 82.

Chiyoko was born in Sasebo, Japan on January 4, 1929. She came to the United States in 1951 with her husband who was serving in the military in Japan and Korea. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Alfred R. Schmidt; children Carol (Reid) Johnson, Sandy (Dan) Moody, and Tom (Holly) Schimdt; 10 grandchildren: Ben Johnson, Sara (Lancer) Lumby, Krista (Nathan) Gossai, Peter (Elizabeth) Moody, Tim Moody, Laura (Chase) Peloquin, Thomas Moody, Nic (Andrea) Schmidt, Shane Butcher, and Zach Butcher; and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. A private memorial service for the family will follow.
