Despite a more balanced attack than they've had most of the year, the Chisago Lakes boys basketball team still fell to their sixth defeat in seven games against the Spring Lake Park Panthers.
Although senior Benj Figini was a one-man wrecking crew in the first half, scoring 17 of the Wildcats' 32 points, it wasn't enough to keep pace as SLP's Bryce Williams and Sean Scott were just as hot.
Williams scored 20 points in the opening half and Scott netted 15 as the two combined for 35 of SLP's 38 first half points.
Down six at halftime, Chisago Lakes attempted to drive back into the game in the second half, but they couldn't get anyone going besides Figini, and the big senior was matched point for point by Scott and Williams.
Figini added 19 more points in the second half, but combined, Scott and Williams added 24 points for the Panthers.
Both Figini and fellow senior Joe Fernstrom had double-doubles for Chisago Lakes as Figini had 36 points and 13 rebounds to go along with four assists and five steals. Fernstrom had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
But, CL's undoing was their 27 turnovers on only 15 assists. Head Coach Herb Jangor has stressed all year that those numbers have to be close to even, and when they are skewed towards turnovers, it's not going to be a good result for Chisago Lakes.
Scott and Williams ended with 59 of Spring Lake Park's 75 points.
