There have been new boundaries drawn (see map) for the five member areas, and two at-large district director seats remain. These two seats, however, could go to people who live anywhere, as the new bylaw requires only that they own real property in the district.
The Lake Improvement District annual meeting is being moved to February 2012. The meeting used to take place in August every year. Between August 2011 to Feb. 2012 member terms will just be extended for six months.
The monthly meeting schedule is unchanged and the LID Board still meets the first Monday, 7 p.m. at the government center.
The LID Board kept its authority to enter into contracts and transactions for $10,000 and less. Greater amounts will be approved through the Chisago County Board. The LID is a special taxing district and collects property tax only from parcels within its boundaries. Its budget is from $200,000 to $300,000 annually.
