Sandra "Sandy" L. Nelson, age 68, of Lindstrom, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at her residence.

Sandy was born January 30, 1943 in Minneapolis to Victor and Florence (Shogren) Anderson. She was raised in Lindstrom and graduated from school in 1961. She married Dale Nelson on June 10, 1961 at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Sandy attended beauty school and worked as a beautician at Hazelden for nearly 24 years. She later attended Metropolitan State University and received a degree in accounting. Sandy took a job at Deluxe Check Printing and worked there until her health forced her to retire. Sandy loved to shop, quilting, read books and snowmobiling. Sandy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2001 and remained in the care of her loving husband, Dale until she died on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 22, 2011.

Sandy is survived by her husband Dale; son Tim (Renee) Nelson of Almelund; daughter Tana (Kelly) Karnes of Lindstrom; her four grandchildren, Tyler, Alyssa, Ryan and Dustin. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Private family interment will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at North Branch.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
