Jean Anne McIntyre, born November 4, 1933, died March 28, 2012 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul MN, of ovarian cancer, at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her mother Ethel Robinson; father Harold McIntyre, and brother James McIntyre.

She is survived by her husband Donald Anderson of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin; sister Mary Rose (Edward) Johnson of Wright; brother Arthur (Heather) Wuolle of Albany; sister-in-law Annette McIntyre of Grand Rapids and daughters Prudence Johnson of Minneapolis, Pinky Johnson of Austin, Texas, Julie Johnson of St. Cloud, Charlotte (Eric) Swanson of Eden Prairie; sons: Roland “John” (Zoe) Johnson of Halliday, North Dakota, Kevin (Mary) Johnson of Andover, Patrick (Linda) Johnson of Marshall, Christopher (Rebecca) Johnson of Libertyville, Illinois, Ben (Stephanie) Johnson of Port Huron, Michigan, Brian (Betsy) Johnson of Alpha; 23 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Born in Duluth, Jean grew up in northern Minnesota and spent 30 or so years of her life in Moose Lake, raising her family. She was an avid reader and lifelong visual artist. Before leaving the area, she helped found the first advocacy for victims of domestic abuse in Carlton County. After a decade living in the Rocky Mountains of North Colorado, she made her way back to Minnesota and settled in the Taylors Falls/St. Croix Falls area. She volunteered with the Taylors Falls Historical Society, Friends of Interstate Park, and Festival Theatre to name a few. She found great pleasure in planning for and teaching at Pioneer School, a Taylors Falls Historical Society summer day camp. She was full of energy until her illness and always had a story to tell and a helping hand to offer. Jean died surrounded by her loving children.

Pastor Patrick Johnson and Rev. Laurie O'Shea will officiate at memorial services; 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City; 1000 South Jay Ave. A time of visitation is planned for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. The inurnment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Rush City. Memorials are preferred to the Taylors Falls, Minnesota and St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, Public Libraries.
