Whitney Tinjum, senior at Chisago Lakes High School, was selected to the 2012 Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association (GBCA) All-Star Team. She played this past weekend at Macalester College with 39 other “Best of the Best” selected girls basketball players across the state of Minnesota. Her team that included players from all four classes squared off against other Minnesota teams both Friday and Saturday. Tinjum’s team not only played great basketball but they won the tournament and went home with the hardware. Tinjum was selected as the class AAA Most Valuable Player of the tournament. “This is a great way to end my high school career of playing Minnesota basketball,” Tinjum said. She is planning to attend school and play basketball this coming fall at Washington State University in Pullman, WA. Tinjum wanted to thank the local businesses in town that sponsored her for the tournament and as a Miss Basketball candidate, including Wally Carlson & Sons BP, Virga Chiropractic and Dr. Kevin Denis of Lakes Orthodontics and Associates.
