NFLer takes time to chat with North Branch players
Adam Weber, current Denver Bronco and former Universtiy of Minnesota football star spoke with North Branch Area High School football players on June 28. In town to prepare for the upcoming NFL season, Weber spent the afternoon with the squad talking about what it takes to be successful. Weber spoke to the players about the importance of being great in life. He talked of the importance of being a great student and member of a family first, and being a team player regardless of role. He also spoke about the importance of lifting weights and working out as a team, much like a family that stays strong by doing things together. “The kids got a real kick out of having an NFL player in North Branch,” said North Branch Head Coach Nick Nitti, who coached Weber in high school at Mounds View. “Adam was always a first class student and person first and a great athlete second. He understands that to be great at something it takes extra work and he isn’t afraid to invest that extra work.” Weber stayed after practice and threw passes to players for about 30 minutes after his speech. Prior to his appearance in North Branch, Weber had spent the morning working out with Larry Fitzgerald and other NFL players at the University of Minnesota. The team elected Weber as an honorary captain of the North Branch Area High School team.
