Township moving ahead on plans for new maintenance shop
Citizens attending the township annual meeting last March gave Chisago Lake Town Supervisors the go-ahead to sell the township hall, as part of a master plan for a new hall and maintenance shop on land the township owns, north of Lindstrom, on 316th. Part of this plan is coming together quickly-- with the township hoping to move forward on constructing the shop facility. A county public hearing notice stated in error that an application for a permit for a “town hall” was on a public hearing agenda in early September, but it’s only the shop facility that’s proposed. The hearing is September 6 before the county planning commission (at the Govt. Center) to authorize the project. Chisago Lake Town Board Supervisor Jim Froberg said the township hall itself stays where it is for now. The building on Hwy. 8 just east of Olinda Trail, is still for sale and there’s no plans for a new hall until it sells. The site of the shop building proposed is on the west side of Mildred Ave, north of 316th. The shop footprint is proposed to be 60 feet by 108 feet in size and about 17 feet in height. If you have questions or concerns plan to attend the hearing on the permit.
