Celebrities walk amongst us, really they do

Celebrities walk amongst us, really they do
Celebrities walk amongst us, really they do

Last week I wrote all about our new fancy website.  I went into detail about some of the bells and whistles that have been added to the site.  I did make one huge mistake though.  I never once mentioned the web address.  Par for the course I guess.  I apologize.  The website is www.chisagocountypress.com.
We would love it if you gave it a look and test drove it to see all it can do.  You can now place ads right on the site without having to call in your payment like in the past.  You can even add a photo to your ad to really help it sell.  We are offering a special on classifieds right now, so if you were thinking of getting rid of that 99 Venture Van, now is the right time.
We have a celebrity amongst us.  It was supposed to be me when I won the Powerball, but I was just a number off (okay 5).  Maybe next week.
I am talking about Ki Gulbranson.  For those whom the name does not ring a bell, think Goldstar Printworks in Lindstrom.  Everyone knows Goldstar.  If you have children, chances are they own at least one item of clothing purchased from Goldstar.  Heck, I have multiple items in my own closet.  Ki and his wife Margo have run Goldstar for years.
Ki was recently featured in a lengthy newspaper article in the New York Times.  The article is about the economy, government spending, benefits to Americans and the US Government’s Saftey Net.  Gulbranson is featured throughout the article and there is even video of Ki being interviewed at his shop.  The articel also highlights residents from North Branch and Harris.
If you would like to view the article please go to New York Times.com.  This is a very long link but if you read my column online, you can just cut and paste the link into your browser.
Getting back to the website, if you own a business and you would love to get some great exposure, then chisagocountypress.com might be what you are looking for.  If you notice some of the ads on our website, these advertisers have been with us for a while now, and they will all tell you that advertsing on our website has been very positive.  We have some great advertising specials right now, and we would love to help your business.  Give us a call at 651-257-5115.
Every now and then we have announcements for benefits in our community for local individuals that absolutely are in need of the community’s help.  Now is another one of those times.
Christie Engelmann, many of us know her as, Christie Brink from the Brinks Market family (Kevin’s daughter), is in need of our support.
After the birth of her first child Hannah, Christie began having headaches which increased over time in severity.  After many trips to the doctor, they found Christie has a tumor in her brain which blocked fluid to her spinal chord.  Christie had surgery to remove the tumor but needed two more to drain the excessive fluid from her brain.  She has completed chemotherapy but since has had some setbacks.  She is currently receiving chemotherapy again to reduce the spread of cancerous cells.
A benefit is being held at the Eagles Club in Rochester Minnesota on February 24 at 5 p.m. to help Christie and her family with the mountain of hospital bills.  Obviously, being in Rochester, it will be difficult for many of us to attend, but there is another way you can help.  If you would like to help Christie, a fund has been set up in her name at the Think Bank in Rochester.  The address is 4638 Maine Ave.  Rochester, MN 55904.  For more info, contact Amy at [email protected].
Kevin and Roger Brink have always been here for us as a community supporting every cause, now it is our turn to support them.
