Last week in one of our headlines, we mistakenly wrote the wrong district. Darrel Trulson is running for Chisago County Commissioner in District 1. We had him running for District 3 in the headline. The body of the story was correct, just the headline was incorrect. We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused. Our good friends that run Pleasant Valley Orchard have something fun for you and your family to do. They are now offering pick-your-own strawberries. Their crop is perfectly ripe for the picking and they would love for you to come out and pick away. If you have plans of having a garage sale this summer, we have your solution. Place your garage sale in the Chisago County Press and Search Shopper. You will be surprised at just how reasonable a garage sale ad is. In addition to your sale info being seen by over 20,000 people in print, your ad will also appear on our website in our “Garage Sale” link on our home page.

That means that your sale has the potential of being seen by 40,000 website visitors each and every week. Those numbers are pretty impressive and will surely drive people to your sale. Just give us a call at 651-257-5115 or go to our website www.chisagocountypress.com and click on the garage sale link on the left side. The good folks that run the Lindstrom Post Office have made maneuvering the construction in Lindstrom a little easier. They have added a new mail drop box on the south side of Highway 8. You can now easily pull into Lindgren and Associates Accounting parking lot where you will find a shiny new blue drop box. It is the perfect place because it’s easy in, easy out. Thanks to Cheryl and the gang at the Post Office for thinking of the public. If you or someone you know have been dealing with foreclosure and you live in Lindstrom, Chisago City, Center City, Shafer, Almelund, Taylors Falls and even Wyoming, stay tuned.

There could be help out there. In the near future I will let you know of a possible solution for you to either reverse a foreclosure or prevent one from taking place. Karl Oskar Days has reached a milestone this year. The celebration is marking its 50th birthday this July. Good timing, what with Lindstrom ripped up with construction. Nonetheless, it is a momentous occasion and we would love nothing more than to celebrate it with you. The great folks that make up the Karl Oskar Committee have been tirelessly working to ensure that this year’s event will be something to remember. I will be writing plenty about the celebration in the next few weeks, but I would like you to please put Karl Oskar Days on your radar. Please make plans to attend the event this year. Do not let a little road construction deter you from coming out and having a wonderful time. Speaking of construction, it looks like this week has been good for the project. Crews have completed most of the storm sewers along First Street and they seem to be grading. They have also completed the sewers and are grading between Holiday and St. Bridget’s.

Let’s hope for good weather so they can get a layer of asphalt down. I think it would make us all feel a little better to see some noticeable progress in the project. Up until now, all we have seen is digging, covering up, more digging and more covering up. We need to stay positive about this project. Negativity does nothing but breed more negativity. I am not saying I was a backer of the project, but looking out my window at giant dump trucks, it is pretty obvious it is happening whether I want it or not. I know that there are many people who are avoiding Lindstrom as much as they possibly can right now. I would ask you to please come to Lindstrom, Chisago City, and Center City.

These (this one included) businesses rely on you for their existence. You wouldn’t think that just one person or family avoiding the area could make that much of a difference, but believe me, it can. One person, then another, and another could be the difference between a business making it or closing their doors. This sounds so cliche, but seriously, together we can make a difference.
