The county is alive with road construction.  If state, county and local projects are added together there’s over $30 million in transportation-related projects that will be underway in this county.
The following is an update on some of the projects you may encounter:
Expect delays all summer as work on I-35 continues anywhere from North Branch to the metro area.  The state will also be installing a median-guard (cable) between Forest Lake north to Stacy.

The state, county and City of North Branch are doing a joint project to improve the intersection with added turn lanes at County Road 30 and Hwy. 95, among other work. There will be turn lanes added on Cty. Highway 30 both north and south of the lights, from the intersection at Maple to the Elm Street intersection.  On Hwy. 95 there will be better defined access points and pavement work done.
This is supposed to begin in mid-June.
The city is coordinating a final meeting for MnDOT and affected property owners in the project area, check with city hall if you don’t receive a meeting notice.
The North Branch City Council okayed the cooperative agreement and going out for bids at the council meeting April 9.

County Road 14 as it intersects with Highway 8 in Lindstrom is getting a redesign and pavement work as part of the larger highway project in Lindstrom.
Another cooperatively funded project-- County Road 14 is undergoing milling of surface now, laying of pipe was supposed to have begun  May 1.

County Engineer Joe Triplett also reports the Kost  Dam bridge replacement bids were due in by last week.  Bridges on Cty. Roads 57 (Sunrise Twsp.) and 81 (Amador Twsp.) are also out for bids.
The Pleasant Valley Road and Hwy. 8 area on the east side of Center City is scheduled for safety enhancements, from July to October.  Detours could be “major” for a short time, according to state information.
The traffic across the interstate bridge at Taylors Falls is uninterrupted,  but is constricted to two narrow lanes.  Wisconsin DOT is the lead agency on this.  The bridge is supposed to fully re-open for Memorial Day weekend traffic,  but return to narrowed lanes on half the bridge deck until completion.
Reconstruction and bridge replacement work in Rush City, generally along 361, is wrapping up.  It is expected there will be a continuing detour until July, but the bridge replacement was finished last year.

County Road 28 west of Stacy is being resurfaced;  as is #20 west out of Taylors Falls to #76.

Minnesota DOT has a website dedicated to construction information at www.dot.state.mn.us where you may search projects, wherever you plan to travel.
