Nancy Carlson, Minnesota resident, and author and illustrator of more than 60 books, visited with Sunrise River School students on Thursday, May 24. She spoke with both morning and afternoon kindergarten students about the writing and illustrating process, and encouraged them to use their imagination. Carlson places a "doodle" a day at her blog (http://blog.nancycarlson.com/) and encouraged students to try creating a doodle a day for a month and see the improvement to their art skills and imagination. Carlson's books can be found at her Web site: http://www.nancycarlson.com/. The Carlson visit was made possible through a grant from the North Branch Area Education Foundation.
