The county tennis rivalry has gotten a bit one-sided recently in favor of Chisago Lakes, but both teams came together before their match earlier this week for a common loss much bigger than the tennis court. Both teams held a moment of silence for Mike Lizotte, a North Branch teacher and longtime tennis coach in the area who passed away late last week. Lizotte also happened to be very good friends with the head coaches of both teams, North Branch’s Tom McLaughlin and Chisago Lakes’ Corey McKinnon. “I don’t think it was an accident that Chisago Lakes and North Branch were playing each other today,” McKinnon said in the somber moment before the match. McLaughlin added a quick anecdote of Lizotte, saying he was one of the only people left who could get away with calling him ‘Tommy’. Chisago Lakes 7, North Branch 0 In the actual match, the result didn’t change too much from the last few years of Chisago Lakes dominance. The Wildcats’ numbers have just been booming
