Polaris Industries is expanding on the eastern edge of Wyoming. Polaris and building partner Ryan Companies, were celebrating a groundbreaking ceremony on-site this week. The expansion will bring 144,000 square feet onto the south end of the research and development facility which was built in 2005. Polaris recently got the okay for its expansion project plan from Wyoming city officials. At the County Board meeting Sept. 19 County HRA/EDA Director Nancy Hoffman told the Chisago County commissioners that Polaris inquired about coming before the commissioners in the near future for a tax abatement package. The company is also considering enrolling this project into the state’s JOBZ roster, she said, which still has about two-three years remaining before the state incentives sunset. Both programs are designed to boost job growth through special tax collections or exemptions aimed at reducing overall development costs of projects.
