Five Chisago Lakes students qualify for national BPA event this May

Students enjoyed outstanding success at the Minnesota Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference. Chisago Lakes High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) competed at the conference March 7-9. Approximately 1,000 students from around the state of Minnesota participated.

Chisago Lakes BPA members had earned the right to compete at the state level by placing in their event or events at the regional level back in January. The 16 students were in a variety of contests ranging from accounting, computer contests such as Microsoft Office Suite to Web Design, legal concepts, mock interview, to individual PowerPoint presentations. Overall, each of the Chisago Lakes BPA members representing our school showed excellence in academic competition. All students were prepared and performed well. During the Academy Awards ceremony, Chisago Lakes continued its tradition of success with seven students earning a top 10 finish and being called to the stage to receive their well-deserved plaque. Five students qualified for the next round of competition at the National BPA Conference in Orlando, Florida, in May.

Most of our regional competing schools didn’t have anyone advance or only had one or two advance so Chisago Lakes had exceptional results. BPA is the national career and technical education student organization for students preparing for careers in the business world. The Chisago Lakes High School club is open to all students. It encourages all students interested in Business degrees or that have outstanding skills in business skills such as speaking, entrepreneurial traits or computer knowledge to get involved. “It is a privilege to be advising and teaching such a dedicated and hard working group of students,” and Mrs. Stoltz, local advisor.
