First ever Ace Race held at Reiger-Olson Disc Golf Course
The goal for participants in the August 4 disc golf tournament at Reiger-Olson grounds in Stacy was to get a hole-in-one. The “Discraft Ace Race” sent several teams (pictured) out onto the disc golf course, hoping to win a set of discs and carrying case.
The event is for all ages and skill levels. Each player gets one toss per “hole” and tries to come out with the most holes-in-one. The Ace Race circuit is global, happening at courses from Finland to British Columbia from August through October. (See discgolfacerace.com for additional ace races in Minnesota) This was the first event at the new nine-hole disc course (twice through for 18 holes) carved out of terrain next to the Stacy-Lent Fire Hall and training facility.
Lent Township funded the course with monies from its park fund. The fund comes from developers’ platting fees. Chisago County now has three official disc courses: this one at the fire hall, and at Harder Park (east of North Branch, off #95) and the course on the north end of Rush Lake, at Dennis Frandsen County Park.
