Captain Tyler James Von De Linde died tragically on June 28, 2013 at the age of 27. He was born on Feb. 27, 1986 in Chisago City, MN. He grew up and attended school in Lindstrom, MN. At the age of 22, he moved to Arkansas with his great uncle Jim Lindberg where he helped him raise cattle. Shortly thereafter, he was hired by American River Transport Company (ARTCO) as a deckhand.
He loved his job, and found the work on the river to be his true calling. His aspirations of becoming a Captain came to fruition this spring when he completed his training and obtained his title. Tyler had a passion for motorcycles and when he wasn’t on the boat he was on his Harley. He will be remembered for his fun-loving attitude, his charismatic sense of humor and his mischievous grin.
He touched many lives in his own short life and will be sadly missed by those he worked with at ARTCO, his friends in the south and all his friends and family in Minnesota. Tyler is survived by parents Andrea Martin and Tony Von De Linde; father John Peterson; his siblings Kayla Von De Linde, Tessa Oberembt, Chris Perkins, Carl, Jessica, and Abigail Peterson and step-sister Amanda Oberembt; former step father Scott Oberembt; grandparents Mary Anne Linehan, John (Betty) Martin, Robert (Kathy) Von De Linde, Joanne Collins, Gail and Glendon Peterson; great grandmother Doris Martin; great uncle James Lindberg; special friend Heidi Nelson; nephew Tristan Nelson; nieces Hailee Jo Nelson and Aiyanna Von De Linde and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by great grandparents Paul and Violet Strand, J.Lowell Martin, and grandfather Miles Linehan. Memorial Services were held Friday, August 23, 2013 at Grandstrand Funeral Home, in Lindstrom, Minnesota. Condolences may be left online at www.grandstrand fh.com.
