John Paul Sauter

John Paul Sauter passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 26. Jack was born in Hokah, Minnesota in February of 1926 to Dorathea Sauter (nee Broecker) and the Rev. Charles E. Sauter. Jack met the love of his life, Barbara (nee Lent), when he was 16 and she just 13. Jack was drafted into the U.S. Army Infantry in the spring of 1944, just out of high school. During his tour of duty, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and at the battle for the Ludendorff Bridge in Remagen, Germany, where he was injured by shrapnel. He sailed home to Barbara on the Army hospital ship the USS Algonquin. Following recovery from his injury, Jack began chiropractic courses at Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Minneapolis. He was a chiropractor for more than fifty years. In June of 1949, Jack and Barbara were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, and later had three children, Rebecca, Melanie, and Charles, as well as grandchildren Megan, Benjamin, Emma, and Aaron, and great-grandson Henrik.

He is fondly remembered by his family for his kindness and patience, as well as his gentle sense of humor, which remained with him through the last days of his life. Memorial Services were 2 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, Minnesota, with a private interment at a later date. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements by the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Condolences may be left online at www.grandstrand fh.com
