Beth Vitalis Hastings

Beth Vitalis Hastings was born January 21, 1933 in Osceola, Wisconsin to Carl and Rose Vitalis of Shafer, Minnesota. She graduated from Taylors Falls High School in 1951 in the last graduating class of the original Taylors Falls High School. Beth attended college at the University of Minnesota and was initiated into the Phi Mu sorority on February 22, 1953, where she made many lifelong friends.

On May 18, 1957, she married advertising executive H. Clark Hastings. The marriage produced three children, Pam Valenti, Connie Brown and Ann Bourasa. In 1974, the Hastings family moved from Bloomington, Minnesota back to Shafer where Beth renovated the farm house in which she grew up. Then, she worked for the Hazelden Foundation for many years. Every week, she enjoyed breakfast at The Chisago House in Taylors Falls, Minnesota with her friends.

Beth is survived by her daughters and her grandchildren; Alexandra (age 26), Megan (age 20), Hannah (age 17), and Ryan (age 15). She is preceded in death by her husband, Clark; her parents, and her brothers Harold and George. Funeral Service is at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, (today) at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Franconia Cemetery.
