MnDOT ready to go on repaving of Hwy. 95

As soon as the roads are good to carry heavy equipment, the project to rehabilitate the pavement on Hwy. 95, from within Taylors Falls west to the Sunrise River gets started. The MnDOT project also will replace 12 culverts and driveway culverts in need of replacement will be addressed as driveway approaches may need “flattening” as MnDOT puts it.

This is a $9 to $10 million project. The finished roadway will have two 12-foot wide lanes with six foot shoulders. MnDOT reports darinage will be improved as curb, gutter is also replaced. Guardrails also part of the project. This will require one month of alternating lane closures in downtown Taylors Falls, but local traffic flow is going to continue. MnDOT says to expect full Highway 95 closures at times outside of downtown Taylors Falls. The project is also adding rumble strip safety measures along the highway both on the shoulders and centerline.

The entire repaving and improvements (see map) is being done on a timeline starting in Taylors Falls around mid-April, where work will take about 30 days and moving west.
