Need an Easter idea? How about a nice drive on the lake? We are looking for you
As I write this, I am gazing out the window at a semi-trailer that has gotten stuck on the turnaround outside my window. The truck has gotten stuck in the snow. As I shift my focus to my calendar, I notice that my team has baseball tryouts on Saturday. Back to the truck... what in the world is going on? Why is there so much snow?
Last year, we had a family football game on St. Patrick’s Day and we were sweating. This year we can drive our car on the lake and fish. Only in Minnesota. Here’s hoping that our lakes get replenished and stay high all summer. If you aren’t busy in July, you can come watch our first game!
Congratulations to the Chisago Lakes girls basketball team! They earned another trip to the state basketball tournament. Coach Walker is doing an amazing job with our local girls. While they had a little trouble with DeLasalle, they did play them very tough. And hey, DeLasalle did go on to win the state championship. It seems like every week I am writing about a team that has earned a berth in the state tournaments. It’s crazy, we went through a huge dry spell, and now we are sending bunches of teams. Kudos to the kids and to the coaches.
Our family and another family decided to take a sort of mini-spring break if you will. Before you begin thinking "He probably went to Mexico or Florida," don't get too excited. We ended up staying for a few days in Hayward, Wisconsin. That's right Hayward. We rented a cabin on a lake that was beautiful. My kids decided that they would like to live there instead of here. Keep in mind that was the day we got there. We had visions of ice fishing and frolicking out on the lake. What we didn't know was every lake in Hayward is on the Chippewa Flowage, meaning there is basically a river that runs through every lake up there, thus making ice conditions very uncertain. So fishing was out, we now had to entertain ourselves. We basically stayed indoors and ate, played card games, and had a drink the whole trip. Sounds boring right? On the contrary, it was one of the more enjoyable vacations I have been on. Just relaxing with good friends, not in a hurry to go anywhere or do anything. We must be getting old. Or maybe I have realized the value of a friendship is far greater than ice fishing.
The Press is looking for a special person. We are looking to add to our sales team. We are a 100 plus year old institution that has been bringing the community news and information forever. We are a progressive newspaper that has some radical modern changes happening that would make an exciting work environment. You would be required to meet with advertisers to figure out how to make their advertising dollars go farther and reach the maximum amount of people. We feel we can offer something new, fresh and exciting to these businesses. If you are a self-motivated, hard working, honest person that gets along great and loves to meet new people, I encourage you to please send your resume to [email protected]. Sales experience preferred but we will train that special person.
Chisago City’s Easter Egg Hunt is still on for this Saturday. The hunt is at Paradise Park in Chisago City.
