Wyoming skatepark ground breaking later this month
The month of May means ground-breaking for the skatepark in Wyoming. The company, based in California, released a drawing of the cement park layout, and announced that crews will be at work on site in Goodview Park later this month. In an e mail from the California design offices at Spohn Ranch Skateparks, Vincent Onel said, “The project would not have been possible without the tireless dedication of local parents, Russ and Lois Janke.
With active skateboarders in their household they knew a safe, designated space for the city’s youth would be a worthwhile fight.” Funding is mostly from the city park fund, with revenues generated by developers, but there have been on-going fundraisers at civic events, etc. Wyoming’s site is one of three that Spohn Ranch is involved in in the Twin Cities metro area this summer. Spohn Ranch also has been behind projects in Bemidji and the St. Croix Falls “Pocket Park” built about six years ago. The designers added a nod to Wyoming town beginnings as a historic stagecoach stop with the “wagonwheel” incorporated into the upper lip of the ramp, left side of the layout.
