Eighteen Lakeside students have been rehearsing BLESS OUR LUCKY STARS over the past few weeks in preparation for their performance on Wednesday, May 22 at 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend this performance free of charge. The play provides the message that race and ethnicity need not be dividing lines in our society, and that we can coexist peacefully, regardless of our external differences. Marilyn Mays and Mary Sicora have been working diligently with third through fifth grade students from the area after school. Students in the program have gained self confidence and valuable acting skills. This activity is funded in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the East Central Regional Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
