Theodore F. Ruser, Jr., age 85 of Center City died May 19, 2013. He was born August 21, 1927 in Queens County, New York City. Moved at age two to Amityville, Long Island, New York.
He graduated High School June 1945 and before graduating he enlisted in the Navy. He left for Bainbridge, Maryland Naval base for training for the invasion of Japan. Just before heading for the west coast for more extensive training, the atom bomb hit Japan and they surrendered, so he was sent to a Naval Base in Maine for de-commissioning.
He did a lot of construction work on the base Naval Reserve pre-paring him for a career in construction.. Ted married Charlotte Lawesson on June 2, 1951, lived in New Jersey and seven years ago moved to Center City. They were married two weeks shy of 62 years. He was a member of Chisago Lake Lutheran Church and a member of their Historical Committee serving as its treasurer. He was also a member of the American Legion, and belonged to the Baltic Framat Lodge #360 Vasa Order of America for 49 years and was their Treasurer for 25 years before moving away.
Ted is preceded in death by parents Theodore and Mary (nee Burr) Ruser, and sister Audrey Watson.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte; sons Theodore F. (Judith) Ruser III and Karl L. (Christine) Ruser; grandchildren Brenden (Rachel), Erik (Tiffany), Heather (Darwin) Putt, Lars (Alejandra), Kirsten (Henry) Boeh; great grandchildren Abigail, Emily, And Sarah.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom and one hour prior to the service at church. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Center City. Condolences may be left online at www.grandstrandfh.com
