A man from Wisconsin reported that he was assaulted and robbed while riding in a car that had pulled off Hwy. 8 at Thrush Avenue outside of Shafer, Nov 19. He was only recently acquainted with the 18-year-old woman driving the car. Authorities believe the woman was working in concert with the alleged robbers. The victim contacted 9-1-1 about 3 a.m. and said he had been returning from Running Aces track, south of Forest Lake, with several thousand dollars cash he’d won. The car he was in turned off Hwy. 8 onto the relatively isolated Thrush Ave. and the hold-up ensued. His wallet was taken and he was left on the side of the road after a second car carrying men with firearms, pulled up alongside the car that the victim was in and took his belongings. The woman driver has been booked and three male suspects, all residents of Wisconsin, were arrested after authorities quickly located a vehicle matching the description of the car carrying the alleged robbers.
On November 22, a 16-year-old Forest Lake area teen was reportedly driving a Grand Am on Highway 95 when he began to pass another vehicle on a hill and collided head-on with a Forest Lake woman, who was driving a Subaru Legacy. State patrol reports Constance Koutek, 65, received serious injuries and was hospitalized after the cars collided about 9:30 p.m. Washington County sheriff’s deputies assisted at the scene, which was just over the county line, near where 235th intersects with Hwy 95. The Grand Am driver and his 15-year-old passenger, from Lindstrom, did not have life threatening injuries, according to the patrol’s preliminary information.
The Lakes Area Police did the annual I.D. compliance check November 20 for alcohol sales and just one of 12 businesses, visited by an underage buyer, failed. The Bunkie’s bartender involved will possibly be charged, the case was forwarded to the county attorney.
Chisago City Council will hear details for any administrative sanctions. The High School in Lindstrom had a Nov. 19 stolen wallet call and a call on a student in possession of an electronic cigarette Nov 20.
