Motorists will experience intermittent lane and shoulder closures on both directions of Interstate 35 between Forest Lake and Harris as crews being installing cable median barriers.

At 7 a.m. Monday, crews began reducing sections of southbound and northbound I-35 between Highway 8 and County Road 10 to single lane. The northbound lanes will re-open weekdays by 3 p.m. and southbound lands will re-open by 7 p.m. Motorists should prepare to slow down in work zone areas. Crewes expect to complete the work on this 22-mile section of I-35 by med-December, weather permitting. Some minor clean-up work is anticipated in the spring 2014.

Cable median barrier prevents vehicles from crossing medians and into oncoming traffic. Installing cable median barriers in strategic locations helps prevent fatal and serious injury crashes.
