Gordon William Gustafson, age 95 of Lindstrom, MN died peacefully in his home on Friday, October 11, 2013 with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marian; mother and father; four sisters, and two brothers.
Gordon was born June 14, 1918 in Kost, MN to William and Daisy Gustafson. He attended Kost Elementary School and graduated from North Branch High School in 1935. He went on to attend business college in Minneapolis. In 1938, he left the family farm to visit his aunt who lived in Moline, IL. While there, he attended First Evangelical Free Church of Moline where he met his future wife, Marian Carlson.
Gordon and Marian were united in marriage on September 21, 1940. In 1956 they moved to Rockford, IL and in 1960 they moved to Lindstrom, MN. He bought the family home in 1962, where he resided until his death. He was a member of Kost Evangelical Free Church of rural North Branch, He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at the age of 11 and he was confirmed in 1931. He served in numerous leadership positions in the church during his lifetime.
He is survived by his five children; Gerald (Sandy) of Gold Canyon, AZ, Thomas (Sandy) of North Branch, Bruce (Rose), Regena (Ron) Gruening, Cheryl (Boyd) Barwin, all of Lindstrom, 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, one sister AnnaMae (Ralph) Berglund also of Lindstrom, and 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were Monday, October 14, 2013 at Kost Evangelical Free Church in North Branch. Interment at Kost Cemetery in North Branch in Minnesota. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Condolences may be left online at www.grandstrandfh.com
