The turnout for Tuesday’s primary election was in the double digits in all but a couple of precincts in Chisago County’s 23 polling places, which ranks this week’s turnout for a local primary fairly strong.  The least number of voters was in Shafer Township Precinct B. There were 34 registered and zero came out to vote.  The Center City precinct registered the highest percentage of voters,  with 81 votes cast of 405 registered voters for a 20 percent primary turnout.

Chisago County sent Sheriff Rick Duncan and challenger North Branch Police Officer Ron Rollins into the November general election.  Mark Osland came in third place.

Duncan got 2,056 votes for 52 percent of the total in the sheriff primary. Rollins got 1,078 votes for almost 28 percent. Osland took 20.7 percent with 819.

The incumbent sheriff Duncan won the most votes in a majority of the county precincts.  Rollins came out on top in the three North Branch precincts, in Harris and in the city of Stacy.
Osland took the most votes of the three in Fish Lake and Sunrise townships.
