Lloyd “Al” Peterson, age 61, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14 at the Fairview University Medical Center after a year long battle with cancer and complications.  

Al was born on July 24, 1953 in St. Paul, Minnesota  to Lloyd and Esther Peterson.  

He attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a degree in geology.  He lived in Denver and traveled in the United States and various foreign countries, while working in the geology field.  Several years ago he moved back to Minnesota and settled in Stacy where he spent most of the past 25 years.  For much of this time he worked at Menard’s in Forest Lake designing kitchens.   

Al felt at home in the friendly, small town of Stacy and enjoyed living there with his family of cats.

Al is preceded in death by his father Lloyd Peterson and his sister Gloria O’Neill.  

He is survived by his mother Esther Peterson who currently resides in a care center in St. Paul.  

He is also survived by sister Dianne Lillehaugen (Jon), and their two children Jon Lars, and Sara Rice (Trey) of Houston, Texas; his brother-in-law Richard O’Neill; his niece Shannon Johnson (Tom) and their three children, Mehgan Carroll (Dustin) and daughter Adeline, Katie Johnson and Tommy Johnson; niece Heather Funk (Edric) and their children Courtney and Connor; niece Erin Linnell (Tom) and their children Ashley and Andrew.

Arrangements  are  pending for a memorial service  which will be held at a later date.
