The Chisago Lakes Wildcats kept their perfect record in tact with a 10-point win over county rival North Branch Tuesday, Dec. 16 in North Branch.
On paper, the Wildcats seemed to hold an edge in most categories, but like every meeting between these two schools, it came down to the wire.
In fact, with three minutes remaining, North Branch was within four points at 51-47, but a three-pointer by CL’s Trevin Nelson and a putback by Dylan Wood stretched the lead to 56-47, and that’s when North Branch had to resort to fouling Chisago Lakes players, and the lead stretched to 10 points.
With the win, Chisago Lakes moves to 7-0 on the year. They have a Friday December 19 showdown with St. Francis. The Saints are 3-2 but have played a nasty slate of non-conference games so far.
North Branch remained winless on the year, going to 0-4, however, this was their closest game to date.
They play at Cambridge-Isanti Friday, December 19, which is the start of five straight road games. The Vikes won’t play at home again until January 6.
