Richard E. Thompson passed away Tuesday, February 4 at the age of 72, from heart complications.
Richard was born July 8, 1941 and was raised in Minneapolis, MN. In 1965, he bought a farm and moved to Chisago City. Richard married Caroline on September 6, 1969. His over 40 year career with the Milwaukee Road and later the Canadian Pacific Railroads were just one piece of his lifelong passion of all things railroad. He will be remembered by many as a local historian, author, owner of Iron Horse Central Railroad Museum, Vietnam veteran, family man, and believer in Christ.
He is preceded in death by father, Newton; mother, Doris; twin brother, Robert; and son, Karl. He is survived by wife, Caroline; children, Melissa and Erik; and brother, Kenneth. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Chisago Lakes Baptist Church, in Chisago City. Interment with Military Honors at Chisago Memorial Park in Chisago City.
