James A. Vhervenak D.D.S., born October 19, 1930 in Portage, PA, died February 5, 2014 in Destin, FL Jim graduated from Portage Township High School (valedictorian) in 1948. His pre-dental schooling was at his beloved Penn State University, with his doctorate from the University of Pittsburg School of Dentistry. During the Korean War he enlisted in the Navy and upon graduation was assigned to the 1st Marine Division Fleet Marine Force PAC. After his Navy tour he moved to Minnesota and established his practice in St. Michael. In 1960 he married Lorraine Sterner. Together they raised their three children in St. Michael. Lorraine died in 1990. On Feb 23, 1996 Jim married Connie Anderson of Chisago City. Jim is survived by his wife Connie; his children, Thomas (Patti), Patrick (Shelley) and Maria (Jerry) Foster, six grandchildren. Connie's children, Tami (David) Newcomb, Linda ( Joel) Fisk, Patti (Pat) Reicherts and Angie (Lenny) Koch, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; many other dearly loved relatives and friends. Memorial Gathering 5-8 pm Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, MN and one hour prior to mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 11300 Frankfort Parkway NE, St. Michael, MN. Interment St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in St. Michael.
